New Book Scheduled for Release in 2025
Civics For All: A Survival Guide to American Government and Politics combines insightful social commentary with civic education for average citizens from the unique perspective of a young, female political expert of color. It's a survival guide to American government and politics for readers trying to make sense of recent political developments.
Think of it as a one-on-one refresher course designed to help readers learn on their time and at their own pace.
I’ll be their professor and personal guide on a journey through the history, structure, and functions of America’s government. Along the way, I’ll answer readers’ most pressing questions about how government works. I’ll also try to explain how America arrived at its current political landscape.
Overview
The book begins with a spark, drawing readers in with a personal narrative about the moment that sparked my lifelong interest in politics. I then reframe civic education as a tool for cutting through political spin and misinformation. After a deep dive into the concept of civic education, I take readers on an educational journey that discusses the Presidency, Congress, the judicial system, political parties, America’s founding, citizenship and immigration, the Constitution (including all twenty-seven amendments), public opinion polling, and elections. Along the way, I include commentary, personal stories, and a little bit of humor to keep things interesting.
